Lecturer

Dr. Oluwasegun Emmanuel Olaoye is an early-career researcher with over seven years of experience in organic/organometallic chemistry, dye-surfactant interactions, and homogeneous catalysis. He holds a bachelor’s degree (Hons.) in Chemistry from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun State, Nigeria and he was awarded a master’s degree in Chemistry from the same University in the year 2015. Before his PhD programme at the University of Botswana in 2016, he had worked as a Teaching Assistant/Part-time Demonstrator and Research Assistant at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria. There, he was able to investigate the molecular interactions of mixed surfactant systems in micellar catalysis and also the effect of a bleach activator on the fading of triphenylmethane dyes via a kinetics study. He is one of the recipients of the most prestigious scholarship by the Royal Society-FCDO Africa Capacity Building Initiatives, UK grants.  His PhD research focuses on the catalyst designs for the partial/selective hydrogenation of highly unsaturated biodiesel. His research interests and activities are: Thermodynamics of Mixed Surfactant Systems/Solution Kinetics, Inorganic Chemistry/Organometallic Chemistry, Homogeneous Catalysis and Renewable Energy.
