Oluwaseun Adeola Folorunso

Oluwaseun Adeola Folorunso (née Adewara) is an accomplished microbiologist, educator, and researcher with a robust academic background in microbiology. She obtained her Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Ibadan (2019), where she also completed her M.Sc. in Food Microbiology (2011). Her undergraduate studies were completed at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (2008). Dr. Folorunso's research expertise focuses on microbial fermentation, lactic acid bacteria, and yeasts, particularly in food fermentation and biotechnological applications.

Dr. Folorunso currently serves as a Lecturer and Researcher at Caleb University, Lagos, where she teaches a range of microbiology and entrepreneurship courses. She is actively involved in academic advising and coordinates the Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) for her department. Additionally, she holds the position of Acting Director at the university's Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, where she organizes seminars and skills acquisition programs aimed at fostering creativity and innovation in students.

Her research includes studies on fermentation processes, microbial stress responses, and biofertilizers, with publications in top-tier journals. Dr. Folorunso has attracted multiple research grants, including fellowships from the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) that supported her sandwich Ph.D. research at the University of Limpopo, South Africa.

Dr. Folorunso is a member of several professional bodies, including the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), and the Science Association of Nigeria (SAN). She has presented her work at numerous conferences and has contributed significantly to academic discourse in microbiology and environmental science.

Beyond her academic and research achievements, she is actively engaged in extracurricular activities, including peer mentoring, event management, and volunteering, alongside her passion for music, drama, and religious activities.
